After turning west on Hwy 93 leaving Golden you enter Golden Gate Canyon. Within minutes the
rolling hills turn into majestic tree covered mountains and canyons. After just four miles you turn right
onto Crawford Gulch Road leading to Golden Gate Canyon State Park, the White Ranch Park,
Ralston Wildlife Area, and El Dorado Preserve. The reason so much Parkland has been preserved in
this concentrated area is due to its extraordinary beauty and natural resources coupled with its close
proximity to Denver. Located 7,000 feet above sea level, one could imagine being in the wilderness of
Aspen but in reality are only 15 minutes from the conveniences of downtown Golden. Perhaps due to
its beauty and proximity to town, Crawford Gulch has attracted a high caliber of residential
development with many multi-million dollar estates being built in recent years. This quality
environment was assured when many Crawford Gulch landowners approached Jefferson County and
voluntarily down zoned their properties to minimum 35 acre lots to preserve the unique beauty of the
canyon. As a result El Dorado Preserve is situated in an area that has been largely preserved by the
landowners, further enhanced by the preservation of thousands of acres of scenic parks and has
attracted some of the most architecturally impressive estates in western Denver.
